A very important and FIRST step in any skin care routine. It’s hard to find the right cleanser for your skin sometimes but I’m here to make it easy. First you need to know what kind of skin you have. No you don’t need a doctor to tell you that, just think about how your skin feels first thing in the morning , when you wake up.
- Ok scenario one, you wake up with skin that feels tight and warm. This means you have Dehydrated Skin.
- Scenario two, you wake up with itchy and flaky skin. This means you have Dry Skin.
- Scenario three you wake up with Oily skin. hhm tough one.. You have Oily Skin.
- And there is Sensitive skin. Depending on what product you use you can wake up in any state. Wyoming, Colorado.. Jokes.. I’ll leave.. But usually people know when they have sensitive skin. When your skin reacts often on most products or turns red easily, or break out easily.
- And when your skin changes from time to time depending on the weather etc. Your cheeks are normally a little dry in the morning but your T-zone always feels a little more oily. Then my friend, I welcome you to the large community of, the Combination Skin club. T-shirt and Buttons on the left.
- And then there also are several skin conditions Like Rosacea and Psoriasis.
- Last but not least; you wake up with 3 more zits.. I have to confess.. I never really had acne so I’m not an expert in this area. But all my friends are swearing by Curology. I am NOT sponsored by them but I highly recommend checking them out if you feel like nothing is working and your acne is hard to get under control.
Ok Let’s Dive Into The World Of cleansers
So depending on what kind of skin you feel you have you can now choose your cleanser. People often use cleansers that are too stripping to their skin. Meaning the cleanser lives up to its name a little too well, and cleanses off every last bit of your skins’ own protective layer. You want to choose a cleanser that will leave your skin feeling clean but not squeaky clean, like your skin is going to break, like glass. If you recognize this feeling then chances are, your cleanser is TOO STRIPPING.

My Personal Recommendations…
Cleanser for Dehydrated skin
I used to have really dehydrated skin. I would wake up with a hot face that felt tight. Literally within a week after using this Simple Cleanser my skin felt normal and supple again. I used this cleanser for like 5 years before I even tried anything else haha. So definitely worth your try.
Cleanser for Dry Skin
The problem with dry skin is that a lot of times we don’t even necessarily have dry skin as much as we create it ourselves. How you ask? By using cleansers that are too stripping to our skin. A lot of cleansers cleans a little too good. They strip our skin from all our natural oils and protection layer. This way you either end up with dry skin or overly oily skin because your skin is overcompensating. This Cleanser by CeraVe was a little too hydrating for me but I wanted to know what all the hype was about. So I tried it. I can see how people with dry skin love this cleanser because it leaves your skin with a soft hydrated layer on top of your skin after washing it of. But because I have combination skin and not really dry skin this, for me, was a little too much hydration haha.
Cleanser for Oily Skin
Overly oily skin can be genetic or caused by other products. When you suffer from oily skin your first thought might be to get a really tough cleanser to get rid of every last bit of oil within your skin. Wat really happens is your skin starts to overcompensate by producing even more oil because you stript it from all the natural oils. By using a specific and gentle cleanser like this one by CeraVe, your protecting the natural layer of your skin and keep your oil production under control. Using the Niacinamide cleanser by Naturium also keeps your oil production to a minimum. Its just a matter of preference so try them out and see for your self:) This one I currently use daily and LOVE.
Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
Having sensitive skin can really suck sometimes.. Often we really want to try out products we see other people use or recommendations from girls on Tiktok with radient skin. But when you go to try it out your skin reacts totally differently. It might get irritated or read and hot. You might even break out in some sort of rash or allergic reaction. Then here are two really good products for you.
Cleanser for Combination Skin
This Niacinamide cleanser by Naturium is the cleanser I currently use daily. And I’m obsessed. I have a combination skin where my cheeks can get rather dehydrated but my T-zone get’s oily fairly quickly. Niacinamide is a great ingredient to regulate your oil production. Plus this cleanser is not too stripping so my cheeks don’t feel dry after washing my face at all.
Cleanser for Psoriasis
I don’t personally don’t suffer from this skin condition but I have family members who do. And they LOVE this Cleanser. It’s really gentle and perfect for their skin.
Cleanser for Rosacea
I also don’t suffer from Rosacea but I want my website to be as inclusive as possible. Did I not mention a skin condition that you are suffering from then please feel free to comment down below to let me know so I can add it to my article.
