The simple answer is; Yes, they do. There are many different at-home laser devices out there for you to try and when you use them frequently and accordingly, they DO work. The biggest difference between at home laser hair removal devices and in-clinic treatments is the time it takes to get to your desired result.
With in-clinic treatments you’ll experience quicker results than with home laser devices. The 2nd biggest difference would be the costs. In-clinic treatments are very pricey and ‘permanent hair removal’ isn’t actually truly permanent. You’ll always need to maintain the area every few months.
Eventually when you’ve reached your desired end result you’ll need to maintain the area every 6 months or so en maybe after a while just once per year will be enough to keep the hair growth away completely.
How Do IPL Home Lasers Work?
The laser light that goes into your skin is a broadband light in contrast to in-clinic lasers that give of a more direct, concentrated light pulse. This fact also explains why with at-home laser treatments take a little longer than in-clinic ones. The broadband light pulses given off by at-home laser devices target a larger space beneath the surface of the skin. This also means that the laser light doesn’t go as deep as the in-clinic lasers and this is why you need a little more patience with at-home laser use.
Make sure to always wear the safety glasses that came with the laser device. If your home laser didn’t come with any safety glasses, just your average sunglasses you have laying around at home will do too. You can laser parts of your face with a home laser but don’t use it near your eyes, so not by the eyebrows.
All the rest of your face is totally fine as long as you wear some sort of eye protection. Maybe even close your eyes when you laser anything close to your face, just to make sure.

How Long Will It Take?
One of the most asked questions is; how long will it take before you reach your final result. This isn’t a one size fits all kind of answer. It all depends on the color of your skin, color of your hair and how deep your hair grows. In my case for example, the hairs in the bikini area grow from very deep so it took me a few more sessions before I met my desired final result.
So depending on your skin and hair it will take 6 to 8 sessions but probably a little more, before you reach your goal. At-home devices are a lot less intense than in-clinic devices so you can use those home lasers a lot more often than you would get your in-clinic treatments. Make sure to closely follow the steps provided in the manual that came with your home laser. Not every home laser is the same so make sure to check out all the information that came with the device.

2 The Deess 3 in 1 Ice Cool IPL Laser
This is one of my favorites because it does more than just IPL laser hair removal. This IPL laser has different light lenses you can switch out and the other 2 have a completely different effects on your skin. One of the other lights is for Skin Rejuvenation; it will boost your collagen production and will help your skin look younger and more plumb. The other light is for acne; it will help Heal the acne plus help get rid of the actual acne scars as well. I think if you’re going for a product that does all these extra things plus laser hair removal, you’re getting your money’s worth for sure!
SILK’N IPL Home Laser
This is my all-time favorite Home Laser. Why you ask? Because it is the only laser I’ve ever tried/purchased that gave me very similar results to in-clinic treatments. I think, as far as home lasers go, if you want to save your money and not go to a clinic for LHR treatments that this Home Laser should be your pick. It gives you your desired end result in just 7 to 8 weeks and this laser, like most, will last you a life-time. So keeping up with your treated area is already included. This laser is the most expensive of my top 3, so it still is a little bit of an investment. But when you’re going for in-clinic treatments you will spend over 5 times the cost of this product. So definitely worth your consideration.
Did I help?
I hope this article has helped you get an idea of how these IPL home lasers work and if they actually do what they promise to do. I think the rule of thumb here is that the cheaper home laser devices will give medium results over a rather large time span. The more expensive devices will give you better results in a shorter amount of time.
My advice would be to invest in an IPL home laser device that’s a little over a hundred bucks, anything cheaper will be less effective but will still do the job. It also depends on what you can spend of course, just keep in mind that it will take you a little longer to get to your desires results with a less expensive home device. That said, any IPL home laser will always be less expensive than going for in-clinic treatments.
