Niacinamide is one of my favorite skin care ingredients. I have several products, which I use daily, that contain this magical brightening agent. That might already answer your question. What does Niacinamide actually do? Without getting too technical and without using confusing ‘ingredient expert vocabulaire’; Niacinamide brightens the skin. Making it more one skin tone, brightening up dark spots caused by either the sun, aging or acne scarring.
A very big PLUS is that Niacinamide also reduces the appearance of your pores. Why do I say it like that? Well, a lot of Skin Care companies try to sell you products; promising to eliminate or shrink your pores, which is basically freshly served bull crap:)… Sorry to burst your bubble. Your pores will never shrink or disappear. BUT, Niacinamide sort of tighten the pores and reduces the appearance of them, which is the closest you’ll get to visibly improving/treating large pores.
If you don’t use any Niacinamide product currently in your skin care routine, I strongly suggest you start, now… today!;)
One more magnificent effect Niacinamide has on your skin, is that it rebalances the oil production in your pores. So for me I only have an Oily T-zone, therefor I only use my Niacinamide on my forehead, nose and chin area, to reduce the oiliness there. I never really use it on my cheeks or neck/décolletage. This ingredient has many many more amazing qualities and can come in many forms like; serums, gels & creams.

Should I Use Niacinamide In My Skin Care Routine?
If you’re not entirely sure this ingredient will help improve your skin, let’s find out, shall we?
For me, in the beginning, my skin had to be slowly introduced to Niacinamide. Looking back, I started with maybe a product that was a little too strong/potent to start with. I used this 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc which you can get here if you’d like: https://amzn.to/2W2ZMzn. Nothing bad happened to my skin or anything and I never stopped using it, but it just tingled and burned a little at first. So I started using it in really small amounts on only the oily areas of my face. In my case my T-zone.
Let me make it really easy and give you a few reasons why this products or rather; ingredient, should be part of your skin care routine asap.
When You Have:
- Larger pores anywhere on your face
- Oily skin, even if it’s just on some places and not your entire face
- A combination skin type
- Suns spots or discoloration caused by the sun or other exterior stressors
- Acne scarring, recent or from longer ago
- An uneven skin tone
Ask your dermatologist about Niacinamide when you have any skin conditions like rosacea, eczema etc. I am no doctor so I don’t know how that will react with this ingredient. You might be able to still use it in smaller amounts and in the form of creams like this one: https://amzn.to/3z6Yy47. But again, I’m no doctor so please first enquire a medical professional.
Just A Few Of My Favorites
This brand is fairly new but once I bought their products at target I instantly fell in love with every product. This is a gel with a not too high a percentage of Niacinamide, so great for beginners:). This gel contains 5% Niacinamide, so not too high for a first time Niacinamide user… Why do I sounds like a Dr*g dealer haha.. ahum.
For the true Niacinamide newb. It’s an essence and only 3% Niacinamide. Never heard of an essence? Me neither up until recently, so join the gang. nevertheless I now use an essence on the daily because I just really love having an extra little step in my overal pretty simple skin care routine. An essence can be seen as a prep step before putting on any serums or creams and right after your double cleanse [makeup remover (1) & Cleanser (2)]. If you also like using a toner, the essence will go after that, just a heads-up. This way everything you put on your skin will have the optimal chance to get absorbed in the right way. This will ultimately ensure the effectiveness of any product you put on your skin.
Well shiz, this is turning into a whole NATURIUM haul haha. This is a Niacinamide Cleanser. I looooove this cleanser, I use it every morning and every night. Great, great product. Highly recommend. This Cleanser contains 3% Niacinamide and because it will be rinsed off your skin within seconds of applying it a very light and easy way to introduce your skin to this ingredient. Just go get it & thank me later:)
